Jason Atkins was born and raised in sunny California in addition to growing up in the South and Europe before making New York City his home in 2000. A vegan since 1999, he extols all the virtues of vegan living and the wealth of benefits it bestows on its adherents and the planet. He discovered Larabars a few years ago with Apple Pie quickly becoming is favorite flavor (Ginger Snap comes in at number two, with Cinnamon Roll rounding out his top three). Now that spring is here, Jason's Larabar fever is back again with a vengeance as he gleefully consumes them daily. As a snack or with breakfast, lunch or dinner, with a Larabar in hand he's always a winner. In today's processed world, finding a wholesome, healthy and raw on-the-go energy bar is a true delight.

My goodness, things have been busy! Where to begin? Shall I discuss the delicious new products Larabar just unveiled, or shall I talk about the newly established category on this blog, for which this post is the debut entry? Or shall I simply send goodies to every Larabar devotee west of the Mississippi, an early Christmas gift that not even Santa - that's right: not even Santa with his talented elves and bag of presents, a bottomless sack of toys, candies, video game consoles, microwave ovens, airline tickets (his sleigh has DirecTV), furniture and socks (daring, I know) - can replicate? Oh, the choices, the agony!

Let's start with this new category: The Super Fan(s) of the Day. Now, this blog already has a category for fans of the brand, all of whom get their proverbial fifteen minutes of fame -- and even some goodies to boot! I know what you're thinking: what's the difference between an ordinary Fan of the Day and a Super Fan of the Day? Well, the difference is . . . you have to do something really special, something so extraordinary in its daring, in its passion, in its fools-rush-in/pinch-me-if-I'm-dreaming-because-I-love-Larabar-so-much intensity, that no one can deny you're a Super Fan of the Day. Which brings me to the Super Fans of the Day, comprised of Shawn St. Sauveur and his merry band of students.

Shawn is a past Fan of the Day: a five-time returning champion, Shawn is a spear fisherman and folk artisist; give him a warm Larabar welcome. He also teaches five health classes, where his students - all 190 of them - have learned about the delicious deliciousness of Larabar. Give this man a raise!
